Some of My Favorite Songs of this season: November 2016

Hi All,

Here  are Some of my favorite songs in this season, do check them and do share your favorite songs of the season in the comments.

1) Closer ft.Halsey: The lyrics and the music make this song simply amazing.
This is still top in my favorite list this season.

We ain’t ever getting older
We ain’t ever getting older
We ain’t ever getting older
You look as good as the day I met you
I forget just why I left you,
I was insane

2) Maroon 5’s Don’t Wanna Know : How beautiful the lyrics are:

Do you think of me? Of what we used to be?
Is it better now that I’m not around?
My friends are actin’ strange, they don’t bring up your name
Are you happy now?
Are you happy now?
I don’t wanna know, know, know, know

3) Mehram Kahaani 2:

Mujhe kuch mat de,
Bas rakh le mera nazrana,
Bin sharton ke,
Haan tujhse mera yaarana,

Mujhe mehram mehram mehram,
Mujhe mehram jaan le

4) 24k Magic Bruno Mars:
This is one different song of Bruno Mars, not the regular types of Bruno Mars, however this dance and music is amazing

Players, put yo’ pinky rings up to the moon
Girls, what y’all trying to do?
24 karat magic in the air
Head to toe so player
Uh, look out!

5) Hanikarak Bapu Dangal:
Bapu sehat ke liye..
Baapu sehat ke liye
Tu toh hanikarak hai

Hum pe thodi daya toh karo
Hum nanhe baalak hai

Discipline itna na
Re discipline itna
Khudkushi ke laayak hai

Baapu sehat ke liye
Tu toh haanikaarak hai

6) Oye Meghamla Majnu

Oye meghamlaa
Thelindhe naa chinni manase
Hey mila mila la
Minugurulaa maarindhi varase
Kannulaki ee rojilaa andhanga
Lokam kanipinchene nee vallaa

Chaala baagundhe nee ventunte
Yedho avuthundhe neethovunte

Remembering Saint Thyagaraja On 169th Thyagaraja Aradhana

It is no exaggeration saying that almost all traditional South Indian Brahmin families start their day with Carnatic music that too with Tyagaraya compositions.
I am no exception. From my childhood, I am grown in that environment where music is carnatic music and it is part of our life.
Though like other cousins or relatives of mine, I did’nt have training in classical music, I did have a journey with carnatic music.
Its a way to workship, its a way to live life. Particularly Tyagaraya compositions give a solace, give a hope, give happiness and sometimes meanings to the situations of life. I am indebeted to this hoky Saint Tyagaraya for his sure several other crores of people from several generations are too.
Some information about Saint Tyagaraya(From Wikipedia and other sites on internet):
Kakarla Tyagabrahmam (4 May 1767 – 6 January 1847) or Saint Tyagaraja, also known as Tyāgayya in Telugu was one of the greatest composers of Carnatic music or Indian classical music. He was a prolific composer and highly influential in the development of the classical music tradition. Tyagaraja composed thousands of devotional compositions, most in Telugu and in praise of Lord Rama, many of which remain popular today

Tyāgarāja began his musical training under Sonti Venkata Ramanayya, a music scholar, at an early age

Tyagaraja Aradhana is the annual aradhana of saint composer Tyagaraja. Carnatic musicians from all over the world descend and pay homage to the saint. The aradhana is observed on Pushya Bahula Panchami day when the saint attained samadhi. The venue of the festival is near the samadhi of Tyagaraja on the banks of River Cauvery. On Pushya Bahula Panchami day, musicians will sit on either side of the samadhi and render the saint’s Pancharatna kritis in chorus as a mark of homage. Many exponents of Carnatic music come to perform and are watched by thousands of ardent fans of Indian classical music.Every year on Pushya Bahula Panchami day when the saint attained samadhi under the auspices of Sri Thyagabrahma Mahotsava Sabha at the saint’s samadhi at Thiruvaiyaru, Tamil Nadu, India

In this blog post of mine on the ocassion of 169th Tyagaraya Aradhana, I am sharing some of my all time favorite kritis of Tyagaraja.

Re Kabira Maan Ja….

Sometimes, we happen to listen to some wonderful songs by some sweet accident. This song ” Re Kabira Maan Ja” is one such song. I am totally stuck with the magic of the lyrics and music of this song. In this mad rush of requirements of life , inspite of several achievments, there is some kind of strange emptiness in a person and that particular state is well described.

Movie: Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani
Music: Pritam
Lyrics: Amitabh Bhattacharya
Singers: Rekha Bharadwaj, Tochi Raina

Kaisee teri khudgarzee
Na dhoop chune na chhaanv
Kaisee teri khudgarzee
Kisi thaur tike na paanv

How’s this selfishness of yours,
that you don’t take the sun, nor take the shade..
How’s this selfishness of yours,
that your feet don’t stay anywhere..

Ban liyaa apnaa paighambar
Tar liyaa tu saat samandar
Phir bhee sookhaa mann ke andar
Kyoon reh gaya

You’ve tried being your own god,
and crossed all seven seas,
Still, there is a draught within your heart,
Why is it so..

Re Kabeera maan jaa
Re Fakeera maan jaa
Aa jaa tujh ko pukaaray teri parchhaaiyaan
Re Kabira maan jaa
Re Fakeera maan jaa
Kaisa tu hai nirmohee kaisaa harjaaiyaa

O Kabira, listen to me..
O saint, believe me..
Come, your shadows call you [back]..
O Kabira, listen to me..
O saintly one, believe me..
What a loveless and ruthless person you are..
