The Magic Of Believing: Protect Your Dreams

One of the important ingredients for living life is “Power to Dream”. The moment we lose this power to dream, we become energy-less, dull, lifeless. Hence it is important to dream , having dreams depicts the hope levels in a person. Let me put in this manner in my own fashion, if you are able to generate the power called Dreams it just means that your reservoir of water called Hope is ample 😉 .

However, we need to understand that just possessing the power of dreaming is not sufficient. We need to guard, nourish our dreams like a responsible gardener. We need to protect our dreams from horrible external agents, we need to nourish our dreams into actions with the help of our resources and external resources.  Sometimes, it takes long for your dreams to visualize , during that phase you need to pay much more attention to your dreams. You need to believe in your dreams without getting perturbed by unfavorable situations.

In this context I wish to mention about this scene from my all time favorite film “Pursuit of Happyness” :

Christopher Gardner: Hey. Don’t ever let somebody tell you… You can’t do something. Not even me. All right?

Christopher: All right.

Christopher Gardner: You got a dream… You gotta protect it. People can’t do somethin’ themselves, they wanna tell you you can’t do it. If you want somethin’, go get it. Period.

Hope you people enjoyed watching  this inspirational video once again. Ultimate pleasure in life is the pleasure we derive in achieving the things which others said we cannot do. However, we need not do and should do things in life just for the sake of others or to prove something to others. Some people try to pull us down when we don’t achieve things according to normal standards and normal speeds ;). However, they forget that these not so normal people are the people who think different and do wonderful things.

Let me share you a wonderful poem which I came across today during my casual poem reading session. The message in this poem is so strong even though they used simple words. Hope you too enjoy reading this poem.

It Couldn’t be Done by Edgar Guest

Somebody said that it couldn’t be done,
But, he with a chuckle replied
That “maybe it couldn’t” but he would be one
Who wouldn’t say so till he’d tried.

So he buckled right in with the trace of a grin
On his face. If he worried he hid it.
He started to sing as he tackled the thing
That couldn’t be done, as he did it.

Somebody scoffed: “Oh, you’ll never do that;
At least no one we know has done it”;
But he took off his coat and he took off his hat,
And the first thing we knew he’d begun it.

With a lift of his chin and a bit of a grin,
Without any doubting or quiddit,
He started to sing as he tackled the thing
That couldn’t be done, and he did it.

There are thousands to tell you it cannot be done,
There are thousands to prophesy failure;
There are thousands to point out to you, one by one,
The dangers that wait to assail you.

But just buckle right in with a bit of a grin,
Just take off your coat and go to it;
Just start to sing as you tackle the thing
That cannot be done, and you’ll do it

Last but not least, I wish to conclude this lengthy post of mine quoting Shri Abdul Kalam “There is a famous saying in Thirukural by Saint Poet Thiruvalluvar -Vellathanaythu Malar Neetam Mandartham Ullathanaytu UyarvuIt means that, just like the height of the water in a pond determines the height to which a lily would grow, it is the heights of thoughts that determines the heights to which you could aspire for. So as human beings they should have great thoughts, great aims, and when thoughts become transformed into actions performed with perseverance and devotion, success has to follow.”

Cheers,
